"As someone tasked to continue Shiki-san's will and pass down his teachings to the haiku poets of the future, I must not do things half-heartedly."
The haiku poet who created the modern haiku, continuing on the path formed by Shiki's haiku collection "Cuckoo". His name achieved the most renown out of all Shiki's pupils. As the one to carry the flag of succession after Shiki as the leader of the world of haiku poetry, a majority of the time his speech still carries with it that strictness from having such responsibility. Therefore, he also often takes it upon himself to watch out for Shiki's health. His poetry used to stand in opposition to Hekigotou's, who came from the same hometown as him, but now he is the one person to which he can express his true thoughts to.
